LES MELEZES
Originally the chalet was a working farmhouse and retains many of the original features including the cobbled (pavé) driveway leading to the entrance and loggia, the old stone "fontaine" used for washing, the terraces and vers-de-gris decorative fencing. The original stable now provides storage for skiis and boots and washing machines. On the first floor there is one spacious twin-bedded room with marble-topped dresser, original pine wardrobe and armchairs. The wide panelled walls give a warm and atmospheric feeling to the room. The double bedroom is attractively furnished. The antique bed is inlaid with mother of pearl. The handsome marble-topped dresser with ornate framed mirror is a focal point to the room. A door leads to the balcony and a magnificent view. The single bedroom has an antique bed, chest of drawers, and small table. One bedroom with double bed is situated close to the kitchen on the ground floor. This is a charming room and overlooks the garden.and balcony. It has a pine bed, chest of drawers and fitted wardrobe. There is a single bed on the landing/sitting area on the first floor and is suitable for a child. There are two bathrooms. |

GROUND FLOOR
The entrance to the hall leads to a spacious farmhouse kitchen ..... There is a large antique pine dresser and a long dining table with seating for eight. The kitchen has great character and a wonderful atmosphere and is the heart of the house. A doorway leads to the living room with views of the valley and mountains and has access to a terrace (in summer only) for breakfasts, catching the morning sun. A feature of this room is the decorative stone wood-burning stove (not working). Wood -panelled walls and an original Valaisan ceiling, typical of houses built in this area, give this room a unique charm and cosiness. There are comfortable sofas and chairs and an original pine armoire with books, a CD player and games. The stable (ecurie) leading from the hall contains the washing and drying machines. There is a table tennis table on the upstairs loggia. Outside there is parking in the driveway for three cars. |
